Maija Knapp is a dancer, choreographer, and devout lover of raw emotion pouring from a willing body. Her work spans between New York and Los Angeles, with L.A. as her official home base. Maija utilizes the physical form to touch the unseen via emoting subconscious dwellings. She prides herself on her dedication to her work, and thus offers her entire being to each project she partakes in. She has done immersive theatre, commercials, countless music videos, television shows, live concerts, live tv performances, hour long improvised sets, sweaty underground club acts, and the list persists. Some of the artists she has worked with include Vivienne Westwood, Spike Jonze, Slipknot, Edgar Wright, The Weeknd, Balmain X Puma, Karen O., The Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Beck, Miguel, Dua Lipa, Brooke Candy, Yves Tumor, Jimmy Edgar, Katy Perry, Vance Joy, Opening Ceremony, Apple, Disney, and more. Beyond commercial work, Maija explores her deep connection to experimental dance simultaneously. Most notably she has had improvised solos premiere at Miami Art Basel for the past two years for artists Nina McNeely and Jimmy Edgar respectively, she has co-choreographed a trio performed at the Hollywood Bowl for musician Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and has choreographed work for music videos, short films, and live performances in galleries and clubs around Los Angeles. She has worked with dance-legend choreographers such as Kitty McNamee, Ryan Heffington, Nina McNeely, Denna Thomsen, Jasmine Albuquerque, and more. She looks forward to exploring grounded yet transcendent works and developing nourishing creative relationships that allow a project to flourish to its fullest capacity.
